Denise Regan

Long known as a colorist, Regan has historically taken her skill to depict a real world in a creative, but recognizable manner.  Now, ever seeking the “Ideal”, she has moved to the world of abstraction which has  allowed her to create a series of paintings that force the viewer to consider only color, composition and texture.  Intricate even in their apparent simplicity, these works create tension and balance.  Shapes which at first appear to be simple geometries are seen to be individually shaped panels of multilayered tonality.

*Please note that these works are all about color, but everyone’s monitor is a little different.  Even changing the angle you are looking at a screen (particularly a notebook) can change the appearance.  Just wanted you to be aware of this issue as you look at these images.
